I have noticed that everyone says pages should be tested in at least IE and Firefox but everyone seems be specific about IE5.5. I want to install it and be able to test my pages in it.

Where can I download it from? I have IE 6 on my PC at the moment, will IE let me install a previous version of itself in a different folder maybe?

Any info is appreciatted, thanks

IMO, not really worth the effort. In fact a total waste of time. And who is "everybody"?

I just checked our logs, and 5.5 is like .87%.

From Google Analytics:

1. 6.0 6,513 97.81% (IE 6.0)
2. 5.5 58 0.87% (IE 5.5)
3. 7.0 33 0.50% (IE 7.0)

personally, I build for 5.5..

0.7% of my visitors use 5.5, and thats potential client's who wouldn't have been able to view my site if I never thought about them :)

I swear by FF. IE has far too many security flaws for my taste--I don't even have it installed on my machine--it's safer that way.

I swear by Firefox too mate, but you can't build sites to only work in ff can you? After all, FF is still only around 25% of the internet population...

I don't really agree with that philosophy.

I can spend 6 hours trying to get my site working in 5.5, or I can spend 6 hours making it better for the other 99.3% of all browsers. And that, IMO, will give me a much better return - and make my site better for 99% of all other users.

But mate, if youre code is written correctly in the first place, it should work perfectly ;)

My site looks the same in every browser we tested on pc/mac/linux (except IE5 on pc unfortunately :() with no hacks, css trickery etc..

5.5 Seems to like mine? My whole site is valid XHTML strict, CSS validates, site meets AAA requirements for accessibility? And renders perfectly on 5.5 as well as all other broswers.. I must be doing something wrong then :(
