Hi I would like to have a login form appear on my index page. The only issue with this is that my site will need to immediately start running in HTTPS mode.
Are there any issues surrounding this with getting listed in google and other search engines, etc.

HTTPS makes everything slower -- that's the drawback. But the content can be indexed as long as you aren't requiring a log-in, cookie or something else bots don't do to reach that content.
