Help with browser/connection issue

Hello...

Was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. All of a sudden, my wifes computer is only able to access HTTPS sites and nothing else. We tried IE & Firefox & the same thing happens in both.

We can't figure out what might be causing this and was wondering if anyone had any insight they could share?

Sounds like you have a firewall issue - probably the port 80 has been blocked inadvertently (secure sites are on a different port). If you have a software firewall, try disabling it temporarily to confirm. If you have a hardware firewall, check the rules in place or reset it.

You should always have at least on spare browser installed to help with problems of this sort. Opera and Firefox are free.

This could also be a problem with a proxy server. Proxies can be assigned separately for different protocols.

Most ISP packages come with diagnostic tools. I've never found them helpful but it's worth a look.
