Hi,

I use standalone version of IE5 so I can run it and IE6 for testing purposes. With IE7 coming out I want to be able to run it and IE6. If I install IE7 it copies over IE6.

Does anyone know were i could download this?

The safest way to test these different versions is to pick up something like Microsoft's Virtual PC or VMware. Running a virtual OS is quite simple with these programs and it lets you fully install different versions without interfering with your production machine's setup.

There are ways to run multiple copies of IE as documented here:
How to: Install multiple versions of IE on your PC [webmasterworld.com]
but I've had troubles on some systems with the latest WinXP service packs.

Hi Bill

Thanks for that. I'll look into the Virtual PC.

The latest VMware is pretty amazing stuff: although not free it is certainly better and much cheaper than keeping and installing multiple PCs. You can install virtual machines with different OS/browser combinations as well as patch levels (Win98/IE6, Win2K/IE5, XP with and without SP2...). What's more, you can run all of your virtual Windows machines on Linux!
