There's a beta version of a new developer toolbar for IE [microsoft.com], available from Microsoft. I just downloaded it to see what they're up to. Smart move by the MS browser team here. Right off the bat I like the idea of the "selective cookie cleaning" function.

Sounds like a selection of the more popular Firefox extensions (Web Developer extension, Cookie Culler, etc.) copied and rewritten for IE. It is certainly a good move, allowing IE to catch up as a web development tool, an area where Firefox and Opera shine and IE otherwise falls significantly behind.

Sounds like MS is trying to get Webmasters onside. It's not relevant to joe public. An interesting decision.

I just saw this today - good move, the similiar Firefox extension is FF's best add-on feature.

A reminder that this is a beta -- with every caveat that a beta should carry. I tried to install it on one machine and not only did the install "not take" (no error message, it just didn't happen) but after that install IE is having some odd problems (not not rendering local files with a .asp extension.)

It is a beta - take precautions and be prepared with a backup strategy.
