They do have some zip file download but I want if possible just a normal installer. If that isn't going to happen what the heck do I do with the contents of the zip? (preferably their latest stable build)...
John
There is no installer needed. If you have the Win32 2.8.2rel1 you may try the following:
Just create a sub-directory and unzip the zip-archive there. If you find something like a lynx.exe, just start that from the command line (one of those black DOS-like textbased console windows). The LYNX is a text based browser running in TEXT mode, not GUI mode.
There are doc files in the ZIP for more information, start with the readme.txt.
There also is a cygwin version, but I don't know how to handle that. You apparently need a working cygwin as prereq.
Good luck and regards,
R.
FOR REAL NOVICESTo use this package, you need a compiler & a bit of experience at very simple programming.
Now how the hell is a blind or deaf person supposed to do all this? I have no clue...
All the sites about downloads keep mentioning downloads...when I finally get a download that is a compiled lynx executable it is for DOS!

Exactly ;) Lynx is a text-based (therefore a DOS-based) program. If you go to the usual download page:
[lynx.isc.org...]
You will see links to the source code (what you have now), as well as a section with links to various locations where the compiled DOS/Win32 port is available. Once you place it in a directory and you edit the LYNX.BAT file, you can run it in a DOS window.
Ok here is something...
Downloaded a "piz" (zip) file from...
[fredlwm.hpg.ig.com.br...]
Now it can not find the config file...which is in the same directory!
Then I made the directory and it ends up being the same thing as lynx-Borland.exe
Then I clicked G and...ok now it is working!
You'd think they'd have a simple explenation about how to get this thing working?
Anyway any useful tips about anything?
This is going to be awesome to test pages out with now!
