I realise that the best way to go is probably to size my website to fit a 800x600 screen as this seems to be the most common screen size. I believe I have done this. Take a look at <Sorry, no personal URLs. See Terms of Service [webmasterworld.com]> for example. If the same page is viewed on my monitor, which is set up to be 1024x768, the site fits fine, but is aligned to the left of the page. If I try to centre it, it no longer fits properly at 600x800 and those horrible horizontal scrollbars arrive.
I have noticed that sites such as yahoo or google have their text aligned to the left or justified, but the whole page is centered, so that it lines up properly in as many browser windows as possible. Is this simply done using margins, or is there some clever alignment trick I have not yet discovered? Please can anyone help me with achieving this same result? Thank you very much.

You might want to edit your post to remove the URL - it is not allowed to post URLs here.
That said, I took a look at it, and, well, there is no other way to put this - it's a mess.
I know that may not seem very helpful but there is so much going on in there that figuring out just one thing which would solve your problem is not really possible.
Here are some things to think about:
1. Avoid using the space bar to position things, it really messes the structure up.
2. Try not to use so many styles applied by using FP style paragraph interface, it is not necessary and again makes a terrible mess.
3. I think you are pasting stuff in from Word or some other app? If so, don't, as it makes FP insert all sorts of weird code. Instead copy and paste into notepad first.
4. Avoid using FP to absolutely position things - it is not very good at doing that.
What I would suggest is that you start over - I know its a horrible prospect but in the long run it would be quicker. Plan what you want to acheive in advance, so that you can use cell alignment rather than styleing paragraphs to make it look the way you want. Be prepared to compromise rather than mess up the code.
Ideally you would use CSS rather than tables, but for the moment I would leave that aside, just try to keep it simple - as little formatting and styling as possible.
Finally, have you heard of a site called frontpagewebmaster.com? If not, get along there, you will be able to post your URL there and will get lots of help from people who use FP all the time.
Good luck with this - you have just discovered how frustrating it can be and how much more to it there is than you thought, but it is doable!
Do you mean the html is a mess, or the site itself?! If the html, then I'd agree with you. I'll have a look at frontpagewebmaster thank you.
But also, do you know any way I can centre the site? That's all I wanted to know really... Thanks.
