The problems I encountered varried, one was a plug-in incorrectly detecting the version of an application it was looking for on my computer, another was some funny javascript tha was creating a dropdown nav, this nav was not doing anything and you couldn't click on any links, nor would the nav, 'expand on focus' to reveal sub-items.
So as I am writing an email to the webmasters I decide maybe I should have a peak at it in IE(Internet Explorer). Low and behold each of the sites I encountered a problem on using Firefox worked fine with IE.
So I will make the same plea here as I did to the webmasters of these sites.
Please start testing your sites with Mozilla/Firfox, Safari and maybe even Opera browsers if you want to get crazy. IE users are making up around 80% of the internet traffic but it is going down as more people move to other browsers, and OS's. These other browser's are really trying hard to become known as viable alternatives, it makes it hard for them to legitimaize this claim that they are as good or better than the standard IE, when sites don't work for them, and this is not due to a problem with the browers, but rather it is a lack of testing by people. There is really no excuse for not testing accross serveral browsers and platforms.
Think of the MAC users you are abondoning because IE has been depricated on the MACs and they have moved to using Safari now. Not to mention Linux users and people like me who just choose not to use IE because of the amount of security issues.
Let's all try to give the other browsers a chance and make sure things work as advertised for more then just an IE audience. It's the only way these alternatives will have any shot at breaking the market.
Please and Thank-you think of the little guy.
The forums I'd post this in are the more specialized webmaster forums that appeal to beginners, newbies, mac forums [mac webmasters are just as guilty of putting out sites that don't look right on the rest of the os's out there].
