There are no keywords in the title, description or page text (can't see any hidden text in the source) but 'maui vacation rentals' is one of the last keywords in the metatags.
What does this say about Teoma's algorithms? There can't be any link popularity involved.
My site is stuck at #15 for that keyword phrase and it obviously hasn't been re-indexed for a while.

There's plenty of sites on that SERP which are optimized for the keyword phrase 'maui vacation rentals' that are ranked lower than this site.
As I said, they don't have those keywords in the description or the title or the body text so why would Teoma rank them above hundreds of other pages that are optimized and no doubt have much higher link popularity?
At first I thought it might be clustering, but I'm seeing that Teoma doesn't cluster.
And the top links are javascript links, so the spider might not even see the 'Maui condo vacation rentals' page.
Again, it could be external links to the home page. I have no idea how much weight Teoma gives to these.
There are a lot of very on-topic pages linking directly to them, all making generous use of the keywords, which are very relevant to the sites, and done in a very legitimate way. There are simply links back to the company giving credit. Not dodgy looking at all.
So it looks like the themes of the linking pages (there are a LOT of them) have an effect. Themes people are gonna LOVE Teoma if this is any indication at all.
I agree that this site isn't spamming - it's Teoma's algorithm that is at fault!
