Nice interview with AJ's CEO with some very surprising answers:

Our goal is to get everybody to enter the Web through the white search box. We saw great properties and some undervalued brands in there. But it's really about [the fact that] they've got ad-serving technologies, they've got portal technologies, they have desktop technologies, they have e-mail technologies [and] they have registration. It gives us all these assets that we as a small company could start to build on.[search] drives.

great article. 4 pages long, some very interesting idea's from Berkowitz. Certainly talks a good fight. Though i like this statement i found on adwords and sponsorship revenue on p.4.

We still are, and a lot of revenue comes from that. But that gets back to the idea that our business model is that advertisers want our traffic because it's so valuable. The fact that today it happens to be Google, tomorrow it could be ourselves or Overture. It's all about our ability to convert for advertisers, because the information we're delivering to consumers is valuable.

Seems they definitely have a plan of action.

"And that's where I think the desktop search will come into play in terms of building applications that don't just search the Web but search other structured databases"

Was also intrigued by that statement. Can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves as far as ideas to fulfill that.
