Maybe this is the strategy, to grow slowly and continue growing, rather than going for broke, and realising it when the bubble bursts, which has happened to so many an SE, and for me i can see one around the corner, waiting to go bang.

This is an approach every company should apply. Close cost control and an expansion rate that your finacial reserves can handle at all times. That way you are never in for nasty financial surprises that can threaten your company. ;)
