Don't think there will be a war on this. If they are not compatible (which is very likely) I don't think many people will take the askjeeves one.

Looks like you can use it with the Google toolbar...from the FAQ:

After I have installed my Ask Jeeves Toolbar, my other Toolbar has disappeared. How can I get it back?
You can view more than one Toolbar at a time and each Toolbar will not interfere with the other. To activate your other Toolbar click the "View" button on your browser, select "Toolbars" and click on the name of the Toolbar you are no longer seeing.

Well I just tried it and both toolbars appear. Have already deleted the askjeeves one though, as the only thing it does is... search the askjeeves indexes. No cool tool as the google PR bar.

seen the beta toolbar which was reported a while back right here, and i was not impressed, considering what its up against. The PR bar is such a useful tool for anyone in SEO, that i think it will be very hard to top, for years to come.

My problem now is, I uninstalled the askjeeves toolbar. Fine. Now I just can't get rid of the items in the menu that comes when I right-click in a web page. Stuff like 'JeevesLink - Put in ,y list'.

Anyone having the same problem or knowing how to solve it?

I am only going to gribe about them not having a Mac version. Even if they did, with no support for PR I would not install it. I have to agree the Google Bar rules!

A side gripe... Google does not even have a Mac version available, and ummmm in the case Google is reading this - Get with the program. Developers use Macs also - Specially new Unix based OS X.

I havn't installed this thing yet so can't check
Did I misunderstand or is this new toolbar providing something like smart tags? - you know, those clever little thingies MS tried to use so they can take over the net.

taking the AJ toolbar issue a little further, it does have some interesting features, for the non-seo, or for the individual who likes to keep informed.

news, dictionary, markets, weather, events, highlights search words (six colours/six words), email the page, jeeves links (favorites).

These are all useful tools, keeping one informed on the local happenings in one's area. but it AIN'T got a PR indicator, or a Category listing, or similar sites button, or the silly faces for like/dislike.

The toolbar is not aimed at SEO, its aimed at joe bloggs - websurfer.

Just saw this...from this page [sp.ask.com...] looks like they have email this page to a friend...that's a great idea. I tried emailthis.com but what should have been a simple 1-2 click idea became way 2 big a hassle. That's one thing google toolbar should have.

Sinner_G, Look in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt

If that fails, just search for some of the text from the rightclick menu in your registry.
