After all the talking up Teoma and Wisenut have rec'd in these fora, I went to investigate both and discovered that my site wasn't listed on Teoma so I went hunting for "submit URL" and of course didn't find it. So I wrote to them and actually got an answer!

>Thank you for your interest in Teoma. Since we are in beta, we are not allowing submission of URLs. If you would like to send us your site URL we will, however, try to put it in our data set.<

Now that's service! I am very impressed.

That is impressive. It seems to me the next batch of engines (Teoma and Wisenut) are just full of surprises.

Now the real test will be to see if they actually do add it to their database. Then I'll be really impressed to the max!

Beyond adding it, I'm more interested in knowing:

When does their spider make it's first visit to your site?

How long after that before your site can be found?

(I know, these are wait and see questions)

I'll let you know when I see the spider ... if I can identify it?

I'd say that was an automated reply, personally. It seems a little too formal.

Since Teoma is owned by Ask Jeeves, could it be that the Ask Jeeves spider is the one picking up URLs for Teoma?

Probably ... for whatever reason, I haven't had much luck on that engine or Direct Hit either. It'll be interesting to see if anything is done and if so ... how long it takes.

Teoma was previously using a domain registration database (eg, they got to a domain I registered before anyone, even me, lol)

And their spider seems to me to be much better at doing it's thing than I've ever seen ask jeeves or direct hit's spider, so I doubt they would feed poor technology into the whiz bang stuff they just bought.

Welcome to the forums, Dave. Good to have you here.

Teoma is still small, and developing...the fact that their results are so good, after so short a time, bodes well for their future, I think.

A month isn't too long of a wait still, Google takes sometimes more than a month to index new sites...
