Meet the Google Engineers at WebmasterWorld's New Orleans Conference [webmasterworld.com]:

In an unprecedented move, Google is sending a team of engineers to support WebmasterWorld’s World Search Conference, being held in June 21-24, 2005. Conference delegates can get involved in roundtable sessions with the Google engineers on specific subjects of interest. In addition, the event will feature an invitation-only cocktail party where conference delegates can meet the engineers on specific subjects of interest and relevance.

In keeping with its focus on bringing you the fastest and easiest way to find relevant information, Google is pleased to invite you to an interactive session with the people that make it all happen – Google Engineers. We are excited to be providing a forum for you to ask the most intriguing questions and for you to get equally, if not more, intriguing answers. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to come face to face with the people that make ideas and innovation come to life. As we go to work on themes and thoughts spanning "greater ROI", "less hassle", "more control" and "more inventory", we look forward to hearing from you about the same.

Join us for cocktails at the Park Plaza Hotel for some engaging conversations, deep discussions and a meeting of the minds. Please take a minute to fill out this registration form and we hope to meet you in person very soon.

Reception held in the Toulan Ballroom, Wednesday June 22, 6:00-8:00pm

Watch this url to go live later today:
[services.google.com...]

Google will have approximatly 10 search engineers at the reception to answer questions. Also, Matt Cutts of Google will be onhand at Thursdays super session Search Engines and Webmasters (aka: Search Engine Smack Down ;-) ) along with Tim Mayer (Yahoo!), Rahul Lahiri (Ask Jeeves), and Eytan Seidman (MSN Search).

I am really excited about this - we have been asking and asking for such a session out of the search engines for years. Hat's off to the G team for making it happen.

I just may have to fly out there to hear what they have to say. It may be worth the money.

Great job in making this happen - I was already looking forward to the conference but this just makes it even sweeter. Glad I booked at the hotel before this announcement ;)

So how many beers are they going to buy us at the pub after the official interviews ;)

This is great news, always interesting to hear directly from the source what they think of everything.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the Google engineers are going to be giving away any secrets.

In fact, I bet their ears will be wide open and they will taking notes of things that are told to them.

Be that good notes or bad notes, we will find out in the update after the conference.

Very nice. I want more Google engineers to talk to site owners so that they know the issues that matter most to webmasters and advertisers. The questions that get answered are nice too, though. :)

BTW, I'm not back in town yet, but I'm sneaking some internet time. Sounds like I'll have a lot of reading to do: 1000+ emails, and 1000+ posts about Bourbon. Brett, I had a hunch you might call it that. :)

I would love to be part of the Q&A, but wife's 40th bday prohibits it at this time. Hope you do it again next time so I can take it all in.

GG, the Bourbon thread isnt the one that should most interest you. The thread you should read would be the one about a PR5 page taking out a PR9 page.

Excellent! Great job Brett and Google for putting this together.

I have to say I have never seen Matt C. with anything other than a Coke, Sprite, OJ, water or similar in his hand at these conferneces, wondering if the other search engineers will be open to other choices to quinch their thirst.

Flight Booked: Check
Hotel Booked: Check
Conference Registration: Check
Wife and Kids staying home: Check
Beer Money: Working on it. :)

See you all soon.
