It took ten years, but they finally got it:
The patent, titled “Systems and methods for enticing users to access a web site [sic],” protects Google’s system of changing a company logo to correspond with a special event or story line as well as its practice of associating a link or search results with said special event logo. Google co-founder Sergey Brin is credited as the inventor of the system.

Sorry Sergey, some people have been doing it since long before Google was around. changing what they use as a logo or a background depending on the seasons or what to them were events or special days ..I remember seeing ascii that changed with seasons , holidays, and events long before google ..even did some for others.

Google just picked up the idea and took it "mainstream".

Good thing none of the USA's dumb ( "others have done it before but we patented it anyway" ) patents are taken much notice of elsewhere.

How the hell can you get a patent for changing a logo?

The world has gone insane.
