Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours - itís that easy. We're not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

The official date for the launch of Firefox 3 is June 17, 2008. Join our community and this effort by pledging today.

FireBug doesn't work with FF3

I haven't got the most recent version of FF but I've had firebug (1.1.0b12) running for a while in v3 beta. I think I got the install from the authors' site rather than one of the Mozilla ones.

Disappointing to see the lack of availability of the world record site though, as I would have thought they could have done a bit more mitigation, even if they don't have much in the way of server resource (I would have emailed a different link to anyone that 'pledged' for instance).

Well seems like as many people want the plugin as they do the browser.

[getfirebug.com...]

Is down....

The vendor's site is up but the file he is distributing is older and won't install as an add-on.

FF3 is noticeably faster, but.. erm.. it's kind of.. well, ugly.

Uck. Just saw in my inbox a link from the world record site, to go to [mozilla.com...] and download firefox 3. Which sends me to a page where only FF2 is available. Bah. This whole thing doesn't seem to have worked too well, although, hey, the record is a guarantee since they're setting the first one ;)

FireBug doesn't work with FF3

From the Google cache of getfirebug.com:

Firebug 1.2 focuses on performance improvements and support for Firefox 3.

Are Mozilla reading this? ;)

The link above from the email they sent is now working (and fast!), so I did 'my bit' for the download effort :)

penders... lol I saw that too right after I posted... but until that site comes back we can't get it so....

Hopefully after 24 hours things will settle down and we will be able to get the files we want.

..../en-US/firefox/?p=downloadday

is also sending me to FF2 DL.....

I downloaded it last night - took ages!

I've been running the beta at work so knew what to expect. Well, the Mac version looks great. But the Windows version has some of the worst childish-looking icons I've ever seen. How on earth did they get past testing? Oh well, guess I'd better install a previous skin.

Does anyone know how to clear the URLs of my browsing history? I selected this option but the URLs I've visited keeps coming up when I type in the URLs into the address bar.

Anyone find a legit version of Firebug for FF3?

The 'hacked' method isn't doing some thing right... like the header console isn't working for me.

If you go to the Add-Ons page for Firefox the newest version of Firebug on there will work with FF3. For some reason the updater doesn't detect it, but a FF3 compatible version is there.

Dusk thank you so much! It was starting to "bug" me.

Weird that the updater doesn't detect it... now I can install FF3 on my laptop too. I was keeping that one so I could keep using FB.

@PowerUp - I noticed that, until I realised it was actually bringing up text from my bookmarks, not my history.

I haven't gotten FF3 yet, and from what I gather (videos/screen shots) - I figure I'll get it when I switch to Windows Vista.. For now I'm sticking to the old one, simple and efficient.

Don't knock it till you try it. The old version of FF was a memory hog and crashed a lot. You can have it.

PS: Vista's a great OS too, but if you don't try it for yourself you're going to be stuck repeating a lot of uninformed opinions.
