Is it considered dup content when a bot retrieves the link to sort by year, then link to sort by price, etc.? It would seem to me that the bot is seeing the exact same information only sorted differently. Does this sort of thing raise a dup flag with the major search engines?
Should the sortable links be removed when a know bot is crawling, similar to removing sessionids?
Thanks All!
If it's the exact same page, just sorted differently by default, then I'd only enable crawling of one version of the page personally. However, if you can make each one unique & provide a distinct user benefit by sorting by date, price, popularity, functionality, then I'd say let search engines go ahead & index it.
Worst case scenario is almost always that the duplicative stuff won't rank.
