Hi Folks

Just wondering if anyone has used any content delivery systems that delivers targeted content based on the refering URL. It simply delivers what the surfer is looking for (for better conversions).

Hi Smiley,

The nearest I come to this is detecting whether the visitor is US or UK based. That way I can change the content to the necessary dialect. For Example, optimisation (UK) becomes optimization (US).

I can give you some insight from user point of view on
delivering what the surfer is looking for

I am currently living in Japan however I dont speak Japanese. Whenever I go to one of those "smart" cloaking pages I am being served japanese pages without a single english letter on them. In most cases there is no way to get english content. Imagine the frustration. The biggest offenders are Microsoft, Novell, and Apache.

Can you tell what user wants by just looking at his IP address?...

You can find another example of "Delivery of specific content", this time from Google itself.
