Banned?

How can you find this out?

I hope I'm not too far off topic (and I sincerely apologize if I am) but I been reading many posts in cloaking about potentially getting banned from se's.

If you're on a shared server, let's say, Ed's Pretty Good Hosting, is there a way you can find out if Ed's server has been banned? I'm assuming that one bad apple could spoil it for the rest.

A whole server getting banned is very, very rare...and, as far as I know, search engines don't share their black lists. :)

What you can do, if you are being very cautious, is run through the whole block of IP's on Ed's server or what not, and then try to find all the sites hosted there...and then, check to see how those sites are doing in the engine of your choice.

Hope that helps. ;)

Thanks Jeremy. I know how to get the IP from a domain name but how do I do the reverse so I can try what you've suggested?

Do a search on Google for 'reverse dns lookup'.
