I want to enter a new field...when i checked google rankings for those kw's one site has so many important rankings...it seems the are cloaked. All their cloaked pages are simply redirecting to an affiliate merchant site.

I want to study the original cloaked page ...is there a way. I guess if that site used user agent based claoking there should be some way to deode by simulating as googlebot , right? , not sure about ip based cloaking..may be ip spoofing will help :)

Please advise ...

IP spoofing is difficult and illegal. Don't do it. The only way I know of to see a cloaked page is to find an open search engine proxy, so you can see what they see.

Proximitron [spamblocked.com] will let you change the headers you send to the web server.

IP spoofing is difficult and illegal and wonīt really help since it is unidirectional, ie. basically a blind attack.

BTW ip spoofing itself is not illegal just like booking a room under a fake name at a hotel is not illegal.

It generally isn't the spoofing which is illegal (although its probably against your ISPs TOS), it's the steps you need to take to actually intercept the reply data which is illegal...

On second thought spoofing an IP address is illegal in some cases since it will most likely be considered as an attempt to commit some crime, if that is what you are trying to to.

At least in Germany (I didnīd take crimnial law when I was studying in England) criminal liability starts with the "unmittelbaren Ansetzen zur Tat". If you try to hack into a computer spoofing an IP address might be the first step to commiting a crime just like loading your weapon is when you want to kill somebody even though just loading a weapon might not be illegal in itself.

To be sure always consult a lawyer in your jurisdiction before spoofing IP addresses ;).

You can also use a browser like lynx to spoof your user agent and IP addy to be Googlebot's...

<edit>and I never knew this was illegal... how could it be? Is Opera comitting a crime by passing itself off as IE?</edit>

You can set a header like REMOTE_ADDR = [spider IP], but that will be interpreted as HTTP_REMOTE_ADDR = [spider IP] which will do nothing for 99% of the cloaking scripts out there.

Unidirectional IP spoofing isn't going to do you any good at retrieving web pages, the server will not be able to reach you on the return.
