I would like to change the USER_AGENT of my browser to appear as a SE spider. To check out my competition.

How do you do it?
Can you do it with IE 6?
Do I need OPERA to accomplish this?

Thanks

Here is the registry hack [webmasterworld.com] posted by Xoc that lets you changes part of the user agent string.

But you can also use add ons to give you that capability, like proxy stopper, Sam Spade, and many others (search on "spoofing user agent").

Rugles,

You can add a custom UA with the K_meleon browser:

[kmeleon.sourceforge.net...]

Edit > Preferences > Privacy

... Identify as default and set the User Agent string to anything your li'l ol' heart desires.

Or, you could use proxomitron [spamblocked.com], it is another filter/local proxy.
