Hi, I run a small web store with a "featured" products home page. I wanted to change the "featured" products page based on the referral URL. Of course, search engine results would take the buyer to the direct link, but other refererals would need a little guidance -- is there any risk in terms of search engine inclusion?

What if it was a sub-section of the home page? The idea would be similar to a rotating banner ad. Except its targeted based on the referal URL.

If you custom serve part of the page based on the referrer string there will still be some risk, but it will be considerably less than serving an entirely different pages. It may be useful to keep in mind that the risk is almost entirely from your competitors.
