Comeon friends, I am working on making one. Send me all the features that you might *wish* in a cloaking script. I will give one script to everyone who replies with one good features. [besides usual]
It isn't always practical to change hosts. What I want is a script that will deliver the page with the .html file extension. Is this possible even if the host is not configured to allow it.
Wish #2
The same as above on a host using Zeus instead of Apache.
My Cloaking Wish List:
a) written in ml, nothing but ml.
b) 100% configurable from the web.
c) All "actions" based upon "any" header line - not just agent/ip.
d) cookie support. a cloaking program is the perfect spot to do header related work as a subtask.
e) logs, email alerts, server alerts...you name it - if it is recordable, I want to know about it.
f) speed (see #a)
Also on my list:
if anything strange or unusual happens, like a new ip for an engine, new c class, etc. I want an email, if I don't respond to the email, I want a voice mail, if I don't get that, i want the script to go through a pre programmed list of contacts to try and get in touch with me.
I don't want it configurable from the web, I want it configurable by voice. IBM has an API for speech recognition, and I want that pre installed, so that I can talk to the thing over my cell phone while I'm on vacation, and it will know what actions to take based upon my voice input.
Oh, and I want to be able to use it as a client package on any operating system, and run as an executable program server side on any type of box as well, linux, MS, etc.
One last thing about the voice configuration: I want to be able to pre select the type of voice it talks to me in, so that if I'm not at work, it speaks in pig latin, or some other secret code I predefine. And I want a neural net built in so that it adapts to my personal language habits, and I don't need to explicitly say the same dry commands every time.
Each webmaster's needs are going to differ, there is no "perfect script." A small entrepernarial site is likely to need a simple easily managed and (comparably) cheap script, a large sophisticated site with a staff of people maintaining it may well want a browser sniffer, auto submitter and other bells and whistles and who cares what it costs!
INK seeks cloaked pages by visits from "shadow IPs," visits with a browser user agent from IPs other then those routinely used by spiders. Then they compare those pages to what their spiders saw. When they find cloaked pages, they bury them in the rankings. They've been doing this for some time. Northern Light now appears to to this as well, it's a fairly recent change. Build a script that can reliably detect and identify these shadow IPs and you will have something unique and valuable in the marketplace.
Thanks for your input, I appreciate that. However, *I* still believe that the features you are mentioning are pretty common on all the scripts. I know I am not the best in the industry [or may be I am - let me go and look at myself...] but I am wanting a script that will acutally *do* some work along with cloaking.
what do you say, what if there is a script that does all what your script does, provides log analysis like webtrend[or little bit better], alerts you about any abnormal activity, used cookies [optional], will auto[/manual] generate temp pages............. and many more features that I can find possible to build in the script.
Well to be honest, I have always believe "Our ablitly to desire is the limit", and as you can I am little bit hungry when it comes to quality.
I have yet to see a script work well on an NT box? (I don't have a choice)
I have tried a few of the scripts and have had not much success.
I like the idea of a web interface but automation is most important.
Like jeremy_goodrich said "..while I'm on vacation..." Not to big on the voice activated but the idea of it knowing what to do while I'm not there or having the ability to contact me when it's urgent.
I (like most) have a life outside SEO and enjoy spending time with the family and knowing that I don't have to worry about a site while I'm with then is worth much more than anything.
I would like a script for my database driven sites that have 20,000+ products that are pulled from SQL or MySql. There are scripts that convert .asp to .html and can deliver the html pages. Why not deliver them to the SE's as well.
Just my .02
