How to monitor changes to a website?

Is there anyway in Wordpress (self hosted software) or via CPANEL to get a list of daily changes made to my website? I want to see what changes I made on a particular day such as changes to contact, structure, etc.

Basically, I noticed today in Analytics that my SEO queries have been acting like a roller coaster over the past few months. One day I'm getting 90 daily impressions to my site, next it drops to 30. Same with clicks for a certain keyword that I really want to rank for. Just up and down.

I dug a bit deeper in Analytics and noticed that for my top requested keyword, the average position can't hold steady and the constant shifting baffles me.

June 2nd - 44th position
** then it experiences a fast climb ***
June 3rd - 13th position
June 4th - 7th position
** then it dips again ***
June 5th - 61st position
June 6th - 50th position (creeping up again)
June 7th - 19th
June 8th - 18th
June 9th - 8.8
June 10th - back to 18.

Why would it go from 7th to 61st over night? I know Google can make changes to their system, but the links on page 1 for this particular keyword have not changed in months. Why is my ranking for this keyword dramatically shifting in just 24 hours?

I know you can't really read a lot into a week's worth of data but I have gone back months and see this insane roller coaster of results.

I'm wondering if I could get a report of any changes I've made to my site, daily changes? I wonder if Googlebot is crawling my site daily because all I can think of is that I've added a fresh post or added content or made some sort change to my site, because nothing else would explain this up and down shift.

Not to mention on 11th through 14th, it had zero impressions ... not visible at all in Google for my keyword and then today 7/15, back to 15th.

Not a WP answer, but what I do:

Run a differential on my daily server logs against base files. Shows what I did and when. Hand-rolled, not a package available on line.

Thanks @tangor. I am asking my host for help on monitoring this because my CPANEL seems limited.

Also, does anybody else understand how average positions work for a day? So, it says that on June 4th, my average position for my top keyword was 7th position? That means that on 6/4, it was on page 1? I don't check it everyday but I'm sure I would have noticed that. Does that mean that it was on page 1 for an entire day or could it have been for a few hours here and there, but an average spot of 7? I feel like my ranking shifts every couple of hours! :)

Just scanned my site in Seo Centro and it shows unlisted for the top keyword. This morning, I saw it on page 4.
