FV All in one SEO: For easy to manage SEO (better than the cliched all in one seo) AdRotate: For managing rotating ads on your blog (not to be mistaken with adrotator) Compression WP: to load your wp site faster GoCodes: to mask your outgoing affiliate links StatSurfer: for viewing stats (works just the same as statpress but a whole lot lighter) Webmaster Tools verification: Self explanatory Google XML Sitemaps Really simple captcha Intensedebate or Disqus for comment moderation Ultimate Google Analytics
Hope this helps.

Akismet is a must have. In fact, it's the only plugin I use.

Don't forget to add the optimised mod_rewrite code found in the WebmasterWorld Apache forum.
The new mod_rewrite code shows a measurable performance increase by eliminating most of the disk intensive -f and -d "exists" checks.
