Teoma traffic?

I have been trying to climb to the top of Google for a two word phrase that I think would bring me business. Right now I am listed at Spot #9 (site A) and Spot #11 (site B) in Google. I check Teoma and I am listed as spot #1, #2, and #5 (is a subpage of #1).

With Google I am actually making good money and driving business to my company. But in Teoma I have the perfect rankings and I have seen no traffic.

Is it me or is Teoma not very popular. Recieving hundreds of referrals a day at spot #9 in google but no traffic at spot #1 and #2 in Teoma.

At the moment Teoma is no where near as popular as Google. Though signs are that it is moving in the right direction, so try and hang on to those top listings.

Two things have happened very recently:

Teoma results are now showing on askjeeves.com, and today Direct Hit closed and is redirecting to Teoma.com

It's going to take some time for Teoma to make a following. After all, today is their first official day in full operation. I think we'll slowly see more traffic from Teoma. I know we rank high right here under some teoma related kw's and those have seen a boost in the last 24 hours.

I can get *better* rankings in FAST and Teoma than I do in Google, but combined, they would be lucky to match 1% of the Google referral's I get. I assume the higher rankings (all things being equal) are because the databases of the other two are smaller

With webtrends does teoma traffic come under Teoma? Or is it AJ or whatever??

Perhaps we could all put a search box for teoma on our site and get the ball rolling :)

I would agree with Brett on the note that Teoma will grow....seems right now it cant get smaller ;)

Lisa, Google also took quite a while to get going, and mainly by word of mouth rather than advertising, and maybe those affiliate links too to a smaller extent. I was seeing great reults from Google for 9 months before the AV focused guys of the time even started knowing it was there. My feeling is that Teoma will start delivering useful traffic several months down the the road.

In its favour is a general disaatisfaction with search engines by the public, and a growing concern of webmasters that they are too dependent on google. We do have alltheweb of course who also provide great results, but they on a significnatly different business model than Teoma and google from what i have been able to pick up, accounting for the fact they dont seem worried about setting the ppopular search service world on fire.

Teoma is certainly one database to be in RIGHT NOW I often think that our good rankings of google is due to some extent that we were in there very very early.

In Web-time terms, Google maybe (dare I say it) losing some of its new "sheen" losing the google gloss. Amongst webmasters and the industry at least, I think there will be a lot of interest in anything new that looks to have the substance AND backing to compete down the line.

Currently I'm also not receving any traffic, but it would be nice to get the word out about Teoma (hopefully they have a marekting and PR corp as good as Google) so we don't all get so dependent on one search engine.

With Yahoo's algo factoring in Google's PR, that puts a lot of emphasis on ranking well in google to get good traffic from search engines and directories.

not boasting but for our 10 targeted keyword phrases we are running first for 8, second for 1, and third for 1 on teoma.

Since the launch around 24 hours ago, our hits from teoma have tripled, from around 6 a day last month to 20 today. I dont expect that to continue as im sure they are getting lots of hits now, but im expecting a gradual substantive increase, - (at least before they increase the index size!)

I'm buying in...literally. I paid to have 7 domains added to their index, and will doubt do the same for more. Now we see what happens....

April 2nd 2002 - Has done Teoma no harm at all :)

IMO the general consense im seeing here is that teoma is capable of mounting a long term assault to muscle its way into being a major SE player! Sounds great to me I wish them all the best, alongside gigablast? :)

The SE market seems a bit "new wave" to me. Is teoma "the next best thing"

If it can match Google referrals, its welcome to be!

Yep, mine came in under askjeeves, but the serp was an identical match to teoma so that's the database that was doing the driving.
