Navy "AsksJeeves"

Silcon Vally is running a story [siliconvalley.internet.com] about the Navy's new use of AskJeeves. AJ will provide results for a webwite called "Ask the Chief."

This site is intended to give the fleet a point of entry to access to Naval maintenance, technical, supply, training, administrative and personnel resources.

Sounds neat and scary being able to type those questions into a search engine coming up with proper results.

But congrats for AJ, I have always enjoyed typing in question like format and seeing the results.

This is really interesting to me because our products are used in the military. Fortunately, we signed on for Ask Jeeves so I am sure we are there. If anyone knows of any other search engines used by Military Defense or Aerospace, could you please list those as well.

Well, I'm sure you heard that Northern Light has a deal with In-Q-Tel [webmasterworld.com] (who does some sort of work for the CIA). I don't know if they will be indexing military sites or products any heavier than they ever did, but it couldn't hurt to make sure you are in NL (how you do that now, is a mystery).

Currently, Inktomi is powering the Govts mega site "FirstGov". That contract ends soon with it being picked up by Fast AllTheWeb [webmasterworld.com]. So I think it would be wise to be well indexed in Fast as it will get some Govt play - just stands to reason.
