42 Character PPC URL Limit?

I have a URL longer than 42 chars which is max for a Ask ad campaign. That is really short as far as some of my urls.

I've put in a support ticket but that may take a while (2 days possible per notice) so I'm seeing if someone here has a work around or answer.

The 42 char limit can't be in stone for I see my competitor url longer than 95 chars. The ad set up field won't allow it for me.

Your help is appreciated.

Wouldn't that be for the Display URI. And then there is another field for the Destination URI?

<added> After re-reading this, I'll assume you are referring to the Display URI. Yikes! More than 42 characters? And a competitor with 95 characters in the display URI?

Guessing it's the display url as you suggest, although the field desc doesn't say that.

I assume my longer url goes into the 'tracking url' field, which accepts it fine.

I'm not sure how long before it's active to see if this is the case...
