Lycos Inc. selected Ask Jeeves Inc.'s (ASKJ.O: Quote, Profile, Research) search technology for use on its Lycos.com search engine, the companies said on Wednesday, sending Ask Jeeves shares up more than 2 percent.
I think what's more important than adding Jeeves, is the release of their vertical marketing dating service engine.
Online dating is huge, and Lycos is positioning themselves to be a major player in that marketspace....
anyways, I see that ask.com has new algo on the picture search. And, I'll also assume jeeves will provide that result to their syndicate too.
I think jeeves is a sleeping giant...well, not as big as google, but will be significant when all their property goes teoma. Just a thought.
Lycos is targeting mostly Europe visitors, and difference between Lycos.co.uk and Lycos.com is huge.
However these are great news for Ask Jeeves, but it wont bring nothing special to Lycos, it's just the whole business structure that's poorly organized. It's definetely not working out, and I guess its their fortune to be average.
