AskJeeves enters the desktop search game - it's getting crowded in there!

With Ask Jeeves' iteration, users can narrow searches by document types and sort results by a variety of parameters. They can define how much of the computer the tool should index, as well as the speed at which they want it indexed.

Who cares what Ask does anyway. 75% of their bottom line comes from Google. Without their big brother I don't even think they would be on the radar. I have yet to be impressed by any of their "innovations"...

I'm impressed that their results are arguably better than Googles these days. I'm impressed that they have a better grasp of local search than Google.

Ask is one of the more innovative search engines around. They have an extremely intelligent team operating the company. They could be a sleeper to come up and steal some market in a few years.

"tab" button doesn't work in the jeeves browser. Very fast indexing...I assume we will get some teoma magic in the final version?

I really like Ask Jeeves, I think their quality surpasses Google at this point in time. Their sposored ads are killing them though.

The worst part about the sponsored ads is the broad matching for very specific 3,4, 5+ word search phrases that bring up very general amazon, ebay, etc sponsored ads. This is very discouraging for anyone conducting deep searches. If nothing else, they should eliminate the ads or move them over to the side for 3+ word search phrases.

i believe everyone will landup in the court again. that is against MS. they'll be coming out with a new version of thier OS and tie the two together and everyone will be back in the court.
