Why am I so low in Ask?

Im doing a search for "blue widgets in a city" which are my key phrases, however Im having site with less PR and backlinks, how are they so higher then me.?

Do I need to submit my site to them or something?

Well PR is a Google calculation for a start.

How are you doing in Google and Yahoo?

You can't submit to Ask Jeeves - you just have to wait for the free crawl. If you are in the index, then the spiders will come back at a later date to re-crawl your content.

Obviously waiting for the re-index is going to be a key point.

Try looking at what exactly ask is parsing out of your competitors sites, that gives more value to ask than your site, and consequently higher ranks in ASK.

Ahh sorry chaps, very new to the SEO game.

So just to clarify. In Ask I have done a seach for my phrase and I have come up on the 2nd page near the bottom, which is okay for now considering I havent worked on it yet.

The thing is, I cant understand if the page that is listed is the latest cache of my site, as the description is has I cannot determine where it is in my files!

Does any one know where the data is read from, ie meta descriptions or something?
actually one sec....i think I have sort of answered my own Q, I have just checked my Stats. AskJeeves gave me 14+12 hits(what does that mean) and the last visit was 25th October at 03:55........so I should expect one soon?

check you stats - is the visit a referral through ask, or a visit by one of there bots crawling your site?

what does it mean by the + sign, also whats the bot for Yahoo, is it visiting me?

Frankly I wouldn't spend 2 minutes optimizing my site for Ask.

If you want AJ traffic, use Adwords - that's where all their visitor traffic goes.
