"Ask Jeeves is announcing its partnership with Los Angeles-based Citysearch on Tuesday and expects to start delivering this type of information either this month or in September, said Jim Lazone, Ask Jeeves' senior vice president of search properties.

Ask Jeeves, in Emeryville, California, doesn't plan to add a search tab for this type of local business information to its Ask.com search engine, Lazone said. Instead, it is making it part of its Smart Search technology, which is designed to let the search engine detect what type of information a user is looking for...

Will be interesting to see how they integrate Google ads with this.

I have really got to hand it to AJ - they are seriously revving up to make themselves a competitor and are sinking in everything they have. I really hope to see them improve their results and function over the coming months - and to see them clean a little bit of the ads off their SERP's as their market share increases.

Citysearch has there own PPC. You can hand them a list of words and you pay so much for a click. I think $1. It allows you to show up for stuff not in your title on citysearch. You only show up at the top when you are the closest person to the user or the closest person to the middle of that city or zip code depending on where the user says they are located.
