Complete change in results on Direct Hit between 6/4/01 and 6/7/01... including complete loss of a #2 position. Does anybody know what are these new results at DH?

I haven't been monitoring Direchit that closely for the last couple weeks. Though I've had this experience myself, when directhit referrals dropped suddenly on a batch of sites.

What happened in my situation was that their ask jeeves spider returned within the next few weeks, went crazy on most of the same sites, and soon afterwards the rankings returned.

More commonly, if a site in the top rankings on direchit doesn't get as many click throughs as the other sites around it, it will fall from the rankings. I recommend if feasable clicking you links once per day, or more often if you can rotate IP's and user agents, like surfing on a dial up connection. Just remember to dump you cookies between clicks :)

DH has updated is SERPS all right. I presume it is based on the click habits of users over the last xx weeks since that is the whole point of the DH engine.....

Thanks for the update guys. I'm hoping it is Jeremy's answer "...and soon afterwards the rankings returned." I've had a top five ranking for years, and suddenly the click/viewing habits have changed? All new sites, too, not just mine. Well, here's hoping...
