Nice article by Chris Sherman over on Search Day about AskJeeves Birthday [searchenginewatch.com].
The askjeeves.com domain was created on Wed, November 29th, 1995...
Ask Jeeves officially launched on April 7, and sold an initial public offering of shares in July 1999.

I do like the way they're celebrating. Whether what they did or I did, since April 1st Jeeves traffic on one site has gone from miniscule to almost 10% of SE referrals. A nice, unexpected bump.
If it keeps up I'm going to have to take Mr. Jeeves out to the Drones Club for a birthday cocktail.

Happy B-Day Jeeves. You've sent me little traffic so far, but as you become older you will become more useful -- I hope :D

Happy traffic hunting for the AJ people. Hope the times to come will be continually better.

A much more memorable day for ASK JEEVES and me was 7/1/99 the date of it's IPO. Priced at $14 it closed on the day at $65 for a 365% gain - those were the days :)

AskJeeves has always mystified me with their success. In all incarnations their user interface has been ugly and too full of ads. With all the other good engines, I'm surprised that people use AJ. They have decent market share, though, and send me traffic.

What is the share price today I wonder?
It's trading around $8.50 at the moment.
It has been as high as $190 in November 1999 and was under $1 in October last year.
That's why I daytrade :)
