Free Inclusion into Teoma.

Was checking how well/if my various sites were indexed in all the SE's, by searching on the domain names and/or top keywords. I haven't ever been "directly" indexed in Teoma before, for any site, but have had lots of references / links to me on other sites show up. So I was excited when I searched for one of my sites and result #2 has my site's title. I'm like, "Whoo, Teoma likes me!". Then I notice the URL... It's not www.mysite.com, it's

www.somesmallindex.co.uk/search.pl?action=click&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mysite.com

So, I guess, still waiting and hoping I'll actually get indexed. Impressive, though, that Teoma follows such a link; sad that they can't recognize it as what it is.

I have to assume that you are doing it by freebee link indexing. This can take quite a bit off time, whether it is due to policies that operate at AJ to ensure, that freebie inclusions, are slowed down to fustrate the webmaster into using the PFI, or its because the irregularity of the DB system wide updating, i cannot say. But getting to the point of your site, getting a shout in anyway in the DB is a good thing, at which or what point in time, your site is first included by url then fully crawled with all pages, in SERPS for given keywords is anyone's guess.

Yep, hopin' (but not real hard) for free inclusion. The site in question is seven months' old, and pages mentioning it or linking to it have been indexed in Teoma (according to my notes) since the beginning of the year. Whether it'll lead to a full indexing or not isn't of real importance to me; 95% of the converting traffic comes from a few, small niche engines and directories. I was mostly just dismayed that Teoma was, on one hand, bright enough to parse and follow such an URL, and yet couldn't figure out that it was a click-counting script of some sort. <sigh>

Just noticed today Ask Jeeves/Teoma bot going absolutely mad over my site, looks like it's going for all 500 pages even the ones with only 3 words of text on them, none of the pages are paid inclusion.

I can think of some interesting therories, with what you said. However, the crawling may not and usually does not mean that you going to be in the next update. That being said, how many times have you seen the bots crawling your site? Also how many links do you have to site's that have been classified expert links, by the system?

These questions do play a factor on the freebie link inclusion into teoma.

Yes, earliest mention of Teoma I can find in my logs is 12 Jan 03, taking 3-4 top level pages and coming back off and on for those same pages after that, but until now the site is still not in the index.

Do you mean my outgoing links? When I search for 'Indonesia', which is the country I am in (and the site makes a lot of this, its in the domain name) one of the Resources link collections sites is one that I link to.
