Teoma PFI submission

.co.uk URLs just submitted

Its Sunday 14.50pm (british time) and I have just submitted 9 urls at a cost of $174.00 via the Ineedhits.com service as advised by Teoma.

I shall keep you posted on inclusion and results etc etc.

My main reason for submitting is to show up on Ask.co.uk - which over the last few mths is costing an absolute fortune, especially since our main Espotting keyword is around $6 a click.

With Tigger, i would also be interested in how smoothly it goes!

In the process of building a site, with just section pages alone, not money pages, i am looking well into a couple of hundred, however the traffic ROI has to warrant that cost, as it will be competing against fasts and Inks PFI for the money, it will certainly be spent on the best bet.

in reply to the above, I do NOT rate Inktomi anymore in the UK, as they really have lost serious ground.

the only noticeable deal they still have is MSN.co.uk which after MSN featured listings > Overture PPC listings > Looksmart directory usually result in Inktomi stuff on page 2 or 3.

Yep over the last few weeks I've had about 20 pages with ink lapse and I've really not seen a massive drop in traffic

I've been doing it for a few weeks and it is working well on B2C areas. On one travel related site - AJ UK has gone up to over 15% of referrals since Teoma kicked in.

Well I submitted Friday Evening and paid the fee like an onion. Sunday had an Error 21 bad html coding response

Now I am hosting on an IIS server and everything is displaying fine from various browsers - so it has stumped me

The problem I have is I need more information as to why the spider did not like my code but no clues to be found

I completed a support form on Sunday which was linked from the e-mail they sent me - I am not hopeful of a reply

The page submitted was a simple static asp home page

My URL also shows "Queued for Ask Jeeves" but *has* been include.

I don't have much faith in ineedhits.com site, seems unreliable.

...and 70+ days later (about 5 minutes ago) I actually got an email saying my Urls had been included.

Funny enough I got one as well: I think it is a glitch as the PFI urls have been in for over 4 months.

I got an email today too...but only after I called their service number for PFI.

Poor service, it seems. Every engine wants the cash, but nobody wants to give any service? HM...seems like a bad idea, to me.

No wonder why I'm not pounding on their site, saying "please let me waste more money..."

I think ineedhits give good service but are at the mercy of the Ask algo and this batch of inclusion emails seems an error.

I don't know if I am an exception, but I paid for inclusion on 4 pages in February. Today I received a mail saying that my 4 websites have been included in the database.

Shakil, does submitting to Teoma.com ensures that a .co.uk URL appears in Ask.co.uk?

My confusion (which I am sure is due to my own lack of understanding) in some PFI is: if you submit a .co.uk to a .com PFI will your pages only appear in the country specific version of that engine, eg. Teoma.com = ask.com, teoma.com, ask.co.uk

Assuming that your pages will only appear in a country specific search, (not 'worldwide') how would you get your pages to show up in Teoma.com or Ask.com?

A .com domain, separate web space, with different content?

This confuses me with Lycos also.

We've submitted a number of .co.uk domains via the Teoma/Ask PFI and all have worked their way through into both the ask.com & ask.co.uk results, so inclusions don't appear to be country specific.

So, are you finding that SERPS are delivering pages which are most relevant to the search query, regardless of the designation of the domain?

Meaning that a .co.uk page competes equally with a .com?

With the claims of the size of the Teoma database, this creates a very large 'level playing field' and an advantage over other PFI's which filter pages by the users search (eg. UK or worldwide) or others who just exclude a .co.uk from the .com SERPS altogether.

So far, it certainly appears to be the case - at least where our sites are concerned. Searching ask.com for our keywords places our .co.uk site in amongst a wide and varied range of domains including .no .ca .com and several others...for the time being at least, it looks to be a very level playing field - whether this changes in the future is anyone's guess.

I was thinking of:

Lycos.com which seems to avoid my .co.uk pages in favour of .com's, same with MSN.com and, to a lesser extent, Hotbot.com.

I was under the impression that many .com engines (and worldwide searches) would always return '.com's' before country-specific domains? This has led me to wonder with all the PFI programs if .com URL's would give entry into .com engines and worldwide searches, disadvantaging .co.uk URL's and vice versa?

My interest in Teoma as described in this thread is that it appears to be a level playing field which return pages unfiltered by relevance only. Which, if you believe their reports of the number of pages in their database would seem to be a large amount of unfiltered competition.

keep getting emails saying my pages have been indexed, and then saying sorry, email sent in Error, and then other nonsense.

I have come to the conclusion that nobody is really sure what is going on.
