If DirectHit is dead, why ain't it buried?

I note that MSN is still including the "Top Ten..." results from DirectHit whenever they return a page of listings from a search.

So is there still a DirectHit spider roaming the web, gathering data? Or is MSN (and others) giving people old information?

Anyone know what the deal is here??

Direct Hit as taken over by Teoma, I believe these listings are being provide through Teoma now???

Maybe someone else could clarify this info.

So if the results are in fact being fed by Teoma, is it accurate to say that paying Ask/Teoma for indexing *might* lead to getting listed on MSN (in the "Top Ten..." results page)? Not a bad deal if true....

The service still exists behind the scenes. Just the site directhit.com was removed.

Thanks Brett. You folks have a good connection to the web - I live in a rural area, have a slow access speed (even with a 56k modem), but your site pops up practically when I hit the enter key.

That being the case, if we go to ineedhits and pay the indexing fee (which is not unreasonable) for Teoma, is it your sense that it may also help us with the remnants of DirectHit?
