Checked serps in teoma for a few k-terms, noticed something very peculiar.

The results, below the paid for overture results, are the same as Direct Hit, further verification, is that my site listed extremely well in Teoma, now it is not there at all, as in DH.

Possibles.

1. Just a temporary clitch ?
2. Could it be that the slight re-index we seen a couple of weeks ago, was actually a precursor to a major re-index ?
3. A complete switch of the index from Direct Hit. Re-badge

What do you guys see ?

I see the exact same thing, yet I don't see those Teoma results mirrored at Ask Jeeves.

sorry mate,

can't see them anymore, just remember who were topping the serps for certain k-terms, direct hit had quircky results, hence when i seen teoma's serps today, alarm bells went off.

direct hit is know the commercial search solution for Ask Jeeves corporate customers. Teoma is Ask Jeeves publicly searchable internet search engine

Pure DirectHit results can be seen by searching on MSN and then hitting "Top ten most popular...". Teoma and Ask results are very different and who knows how much, if at all, influenced by DH.

Now Teoma shows its listing!

You can see pure Directhit results in one step:

[hotbot.lycos.com...]

mmm!

Angiolo, don't know about hotbot showing DH results, always thought it was ink, and lycos, though i remember when they used to display most popular DH listings.

Alarm over, back in, weird. definetly a clitch, not only was the site in question out. The site at number one was so not relevant, it was scary.

The first listing page is directhit.com when you leave the 10 results per page default.

If you increase the results per page you get Inktomi and a top line message:

Get the Top 10 websites for "your keywords here"

The other pages are Inktomi.

Angiolo,

we must be getting different return pages.

Checked the lycos hotbot, that you posted above, and i got this for a search term !

1st: Sponsored listings
2nd: Search Partners > Online Detective
> Lycos Yellow Pages
> Ebay
3rd: Web Results > Inktomi
4th: 2nd opinion > Search with Lycos Logo/link.
5th: Powered by Ink.

No mention of DH.

Try these searches:

keywords: tennis shoe

search.msn.com

[msn.directhit.com...]

and now on:

[hotbot.lycos.com...]

Search for tennis shoe [hotbot.lycos.com] at HotBot.

Same results!

(Be sure that on your right site the Return Results is set to 10)

At the bottom of the Hotbot page you can see the Directhit logo.

I think since long time ago!

You have to click at the Top of your result page at:

WEB DIRECTORY SITES
Get the Top 10 Most Popular Sites for ...."what you searched for here"

In a new interview with Moteurzine [translate.google.com] AskJeeves Steve Berkovitz talks about DiretHits future.
He says DH technology will be integrated in Teoma websearch.
And of course he confirms DH results and technology being available through MSN, Lycos and About.com.

The interview is worth a read, with Berkovitz also talking about the number of PFI listings in Teoma, the deviding the web into communities etc.
