I am already listed in Teoma.
What should I do for a good ranking?
Will going for the paid inclusion help me??

Start praying.

Personally, I've not been very happy with my PR on Teoma. On other search engines I have good presence, 1-3 position but on Teoma I may show up 2 or 3 pages later. I hope someone will answer your question because I would love to know how to move up in page rank.

Regards
Janine

Sorry, I forgot to say, I did pay for inclusion but it didn't help my PR.

Matter of interest, were you in for free first?
Just wondering whether paying leads to a more extensive indexing.

by the look of most posts I don't think Teoma is generating all that much traffic.

I wasn't listed in Teoma until I paid for inclusion.

Sorry, I forgot to say, I did pay for inclusion but it didn't help my PR.

Last year when they were not open for submissions I e-mailed them and asked how I can submit, they replied "If you would like to send us your site URL we
will, however, try to put it in our data set."

How nice! and rank fairly well!

he he, if you are referring to 'page rank' then that's Google, not Teoma.

They have a completely different algorithm...and base a lot of their results on site context, instead of sheer link volume, as Google tends to do.

The result, one hopes, in a more linguistically accurate picture of the web...thus yielding more relevant SERPS.

You might check this out,Teoma Search engine overview [webmasterworld.com] as Brett Tabke put a lot of work into providing an incredible summary, and introduction, to this new engine. Also, while I haven't read it yet, the DiscoWeb project [cs.rutgers.edu] is where I believe some of their researchers participated, before forming a commercial enterprise.

Hope that helps you out.

As Jeremy says PR is Google.

Payed inclusion at the moment, does not have any affect on the SERPS on TEOMA, whether it will in the future, remains to be seen, hopefully the paid scheme will just be for quick guaranteed inclusions, and the ranking of a site and its pages, will come down to its relevance.

In regards of getting up the SERPS, then a very clean cut site design, which focuses on content, is the critical concern of doing well. Links are still important, though, you'll struggle with teoma, if you thinking of trying to use a high incoming PR strategy, like you can with google.

Teoma is about as close to google as ink and fast are, its not alike.

There is always Overture.

The thread that Jeremy pointed too, of Brett's is an excellant rundown of Teoma, also the advanced reading topics, shead a little light on how teoma views the net.
