I was thinking that AOL and the other portals may not use the 1 cent bids. If you search on the keyword phrase "ecommerce package" on AOL top spot is 17 cents. Does anyone know what the minimum bid is to get into AOL and AV.I do not see why they would not list the 1 cent bid and even these pennies add up.

You can get listed on 1 cent bids. Type 'makemetop' into AOL - believe me that is not a very competitive term!

I put it in to goto because I couldn't come up on Inktomi even under my own name! The listing is there under 'sponsored listings'.

Just checked AOl and found several 1 cent listings and thats the way I will go. $50 will bring 5000 hits. I believe the non-competitive keywords of today will be the competitive keywords of tomorrow so I am going to buy them at one cent before competitors drive them up.

cyberbear, I haven't seen anything about which partner might exclude .01 listings. However, and I say this very cautiously so as not to start yet another "the sky is falling" rumor, I have read somewhere that the .01 bids were not going to be allowed in the future. Whether this was in some article about GoTo, FindWhat, or even some other PPC engine, I cannot recall. Perhaps Mike or others have read the same?

You got it.
If your site converts, by the time the bids go up you will be able to afford them.

I've found that phrases are where the good 1 cent action is.
The person searching on a 2 or 3 word phrase is often looking for something with a much greater intention than the generic one-word person -- and that makes them likelier to convert. You get a more highly targeted click with greater motivation to buy, and there is less competition in the bidding.
