Express Submit Changes and NEW Features

Looks like yahoo has made some changes to the submit express. Of course the fee is still the same. But now they have an online account manager that list all your sites that are listed for renewal and says you can cancel 5 days prior to renewal date if you don't want to renew. Check it out - it's pretty neat. Go to any category and click on submit site - they changed the way that looks to. You can make request for changes from there too.

It also allows you to cancel your listing right there from the manager. This is very helpful information. I hope I don't have to cancel any of my sites. I hope they implement some positive changes. I don't have to decide until 2/03 - that's when my first site expires.

I had 22 sites dumped to no mans land resulting in a loss of 100s of 1-10 keyword listings and a whopping 70% drop in traffic and revenues.

Wow Jadakiss, that sounds pretty dramatic, kudos to you for remaining positive. And welcome to WebmasterWorld and thanks for sharing this.

However, I'm still getting the OLD suggest Express submit form. Maybe you're getting a sneak preview?

If it its, I think this is great because I have a feeling I will not be renewing many sites ;) They were saying people would only be able to do it by replying to the original email, which many people may not be able to, so this is good news.

One thing I noticed today:

They have really downplayed the "Suggest a Site" link. It used to be pretty prominent, but now it's hidden all the way in the footer.

2_Much - believe me - I've had my days of b'n and complaining. I even cried many days. I just built a new house and quit my day job thanks to affiliate marketing and now 6 months later - this happens. I'm pretty sick over the whole situation. But I decided to get my butt off the floor and fight back. I have 22 sites to reoptimize for google and other SEs to get them back on top. It's gonna be a long road but I'm hoping if I give it my all - they will somehow get back on top. Of course I'm also praying that yahoo rethinks this whole thing and brings the old directory back into play for the people like myself that were paying there scheming butts $1500 per month submitting sites.

Ps. I don't know why you don't see the "Submit Express" changes. It is really prominent now - it is in a colorful box with border and all - you can't miss it now if you tired. Maybe its not changed across the different regions yet.

Wow jadakiss, that sounds awful. You have a great attitude about it, that's really all we can do: react and try to build from there. Like I said elsewhere, it's all like a game of chess. Right now we're all behind, but soon we'll be back on top. It's tough when the stakes are so high though.

I was able to see it from your link, but not if I'm trying to submit a site directly from the directory.

Also, I noticed they added an icon to Overture on the bizex submission page. This switch is becoming more and more glaringly obvious.

I know how you feel exactly. My partner and I have roughly 20 sites to reoptimize for google and other SE's to. I mean we were crying and b'n and complaining for a week or so after Black Wednesday. But, what can we do? I have some feeling that possibly Pure Google results in Yahoo are temporary. If you check your Yahoo results under Directory for your keywords it looks like Yahoo is applying a new algo. So hopefully BizEx will still be worth the money we put in paying 1500 a month for sites. We are in the exact same boat as you jadakiss2. We submited 7 sites a within 2 weeks of the disaster (of course before the google takeover). But luckily in those few days that our sites were listed in Yahoo we made our listing fee back. We sure miss the money. I have had to go out to get a job to help pay bills.

We have the same attitude as you, we just have to reoptimize and wait to see what Yahoo does. Yahoo sure forced us to have all our eggs in the google basket. Only time will tell, and hours and hours of research and optimization. Good luck to all, and most of all... PLEASE YAHOO BRING BACK THE OLD DIRECTORY AS DEFAULT!

Their is something wrong with their acct. manager. Sites which have been denied and approved (appeal) will be listed as "inactive orders" and not as approved orders.

Looks like we all need to check for those renewal dates. If you don't cancel 5 days before, you pay another $299. If you cancel early, and then later want it back in the directory, you have to pay again.

Now if I could only remember all the throwaway email addresses I used to sign up, it might save me some $$.

Uhh...yeah...and all the throwaway passwords, and birthdays, too. :) I don't even remember if I was "male" or "female" in some of those submissions.

Any ideas on how to go about contacting Y! in case I want to cancel a listing?

Reading these posts drove my curiousity to check out my ranking now in Yahoo Directory. Ironically, I have my highest ranking ever for my top two keywords, #2 - in the directory. Of course, this is after they switched to Microsoft, Uhh, I mean Google, as their default listings. So a lot of good that does me.

Fortunately, my listing in the directory is grandfathered and I don't have to pay again.

However, when I first realized the changeover they made, the first question to pop in my head: Why would anyone want to submit their site to Yahoo? Especially now when pagerank means less than it does and that's a big factor in submitting to Yahoo now. And why would anyone want to renew?

Am I the only one that thinks revenue strapped Yahoo is going to get hurt on this one? Furthermore, they paid Google $7.2 million to use their web results last year.

So, less money coming in and more going out for Yahoo =?!

The top dog, Microso - uhh, I mean Google, now powers the other two top search engines, AOL and Yahoo.

I remember a time when I liked having more choices. When researching something, I often checked out other SERPs to see what else was out there. When I wanted to see different results than Micr-- uhh, I mean Google, I went to Yahoo.

But now, I have gone looking for new underdogs. Places like Ixquick. Besides variety, I like underdogs. Consider myself one. If I wanted Micr, uhh, I mean Google results, I would go to Google. Not Yahoogle.

Half my income comes from the internet. Like in stocks, I've learned, now, not to rely heavily on any one source too much. Diversify, is my mantra.

Every major company reaches an apex. Then, the public wants something new or the higher ups micro manage it to death. Perhaps Yahoo has reached their's and they are on the downward slide. I think we are seeing GoogleSoft at their highest point.

But nothing lasts forever.

In the short history of the internet, that is the only "true fact" I have learned.

I too see the need to diversify... I to am glad my Yahoo listings are grandfathered. If they weren't I wouldn't be renewing.

Not only would I like to see Teoma take a more prominent place among the SEs, I'm looking forward to AllTheWeb gaining popularity.

I still see decent results with Inktomi submissions as well.

Goodbye, Yahoo, AltaVista, Excite, InfoSeek, and some of my other old friends.... I'll miss you and the traffic you brought!

I too miss the diversity that there was before this change. I am looking forward to a small SE stepping up to the plate and grabbing our attention. I know that unless Yahoo makes some beneficial changes for us express submit people I am NOT going to renew.

CKERN - I'm glad you can relate. Your story sounds sooo similar to mine - we are going through the EXACT SAME THING. I too am forced to get a job now to make ends meet. Never thought I'd have to do that again. I'm praying this is just temporary. I did see all my listings still in tact when I clicked on directory. I'm hoping they bring them back into the directory - it doesn't make since for two SEs to show the same results. Keep me posted on your situation as well. Good luck to you.
