I almost jumped out of my chair when the Beach Boys, Prince, and Don McClean started screaming from my search results. It's some concert, I think. Sponsored by Chevy. And Loud.

Don't know if it's search keyed as to when it shows, or if it's just in regular rotation. My term DID have the word Music in it though. I wasn't particularly hoping to hear music RIGHT THEN, though.

Thanks for the warning...I'll make sure to turn them down next time I'm surfing the web while the kiddies are asleep :)

The ads they are showing just seem to get worse and worse...more and more, I fint the news is the only 'portal' thing I need - and for that I've got Google now.

I wonder how the new ad 'feature' will impact their traffic?

Oh my god this was HIDEOUS! I got it while checking my email! Great way to alert my bosses that I was on Yahoo Mail. This is crazy, what's the limit?

This is enough to stop using Y!

But if you turn off your Java, it turns off the music.

What a way to lose customers!

Doesn't Yahoo know that many of their users are surfing at work? (Without the bosses knowledge....)

Using music is a great to lose those customers....and get somebody fired.

Dumb.

First they have Bernie Mac popping up in the middle of my screen, and now this. -_-

This is exactly why I stopped using Yahoo mail. I don't think that too many people are going to be happy about this.

Good thing my work computer doesn't have speakers. :)

It's loud, and poor quality sound. :) And another reason why I only visit Yahoo! to check client listings.

I actually saw the consequences of Yahoo using audio ads the other day. An employee who sits near me was browsing Y! mail (and his computer does have speakers, unlike mine)and suddenly his speakers began playing the horrible music described above. Needless to say, the boss was nearby, and he and the employee had a bit of a chat in his office.

Turn down your speakers. :)
