Just had a quick look at our logs for the first 2 full days since the Y! change. Comparing against averages for Thursdays and Fridays over the past 2 months.
1. There still seems to be "yahoo.google" hits, but added toegther with new "pure yahoo" hits for sites that are not in the Y! directory I am not seeing any substantial "gain" for these sites at this early stage due to the change. ("yahoo + yahoo.google referrals seem to be quite similar to just yahoo.google hits in previous weeks.)
2. Interestingly, those sites that are already in Y! directory (but well ranked in Google pure) seem to be going even slightly better.
We have suffered from the loss of Google titles and descriptions from yahoo.google as the new deault combined Y! serps use out of date titles and descriptions. We also have good rankings of google for all sites. We also have never paid for our Y! listings. So our position is probably different from others..
I guess I am saying lets share the actual results of the Y! changes on our actual referrals, and maybe even how well targeted the new Y! results are. In our case there has been little substantial effect on our referrals from yahoo overall, at this early stage. But we are just one case. It's hardly earth shattering to suggest that you need good listings in both, but this may just be the boring realistic truth.
An early hypothesis... Those who have paid Y! for directory listings may not necessarilly be worried that those who are not in Y! but just well placed in Google have just gained a major windfall at their expense...
Site b - uniques up slightly, maybe less than 5%. Much less of an increase than I would have thought based on the Google rankings for the top pages. They must be for terms that are not searched for much in Yahoo. Pageviews up 25%. Sales up slightly.

Maybe now it is time to look at the first real evidence of how the Y! new SERPS are affecting refferals
I am not sure that the question has any statistical significance. Assuming Yahoo queries have not substantially altered over that short period, then total referals from Yahoo to all sites will be the same, immediately before and after their change.
Some sites will win and some sites will lose!

What im suggesting we do is to compare in what ways the new Y! is affecting referrals since that is the bottom line. Basically trying to get an idea of what people who had a good Y! directory listing have lost.
What is most interesting is the effect on -
1. Sites that rank well in google but are not in Y! directory
2. Sites that have a good Y! directory listing but not ranked well in Google.
3. Sites that have both a good listing in Y! directory AND good rankings in G.
Im a little bit surprised that our sites that had no listing in Y! directory but good rankings in G!
have not performed better since the change. And that our site that had a great Y! directory listing and ranking, as well as good G! rankings, has stayed around about the same.
I was wondering whether people with good Y! directory listings but poor Google rankings have been affected vy the change as much as they feared.
3 sites
1. Pre = #4 Y! - #? Google(off the charts)- 80 visitors per day.
Post = 0 visitors per day.
2. Pre = #1 Y! - #23 Google - 184 visitors per day.
Post= same traffic.
3. Pre = #1 Y! - not in Google yet (new site) - 57 visitors per day.
Post = 0 visitors per day.
Conclusion - In Y! and Google = not much lost.
- In Y!, not in Google = lost everything.
I agree with: hazardtomyself
Basically to sum it all up!
In Y! I had great listings, and no with horrible rankings in Google, I have lost everything.
#1 in Yahoo, # 35 Google before for a very prominent KW =300 visits/day, Now for the same keyword Bottom of 1st page in Y= 47 visits. For my other keywords that were # 1 or 2 in Y and only in the # 60 -100 in G basically 0 traffic. Thank You very much Yahoo!
I am a bit dissapointed that Y doesn't seem to be giving any boost to the the listings that have paid to be included in their directory. This is not a good move if they're interested in protecting their annual renewal cashflow.
How about people who were not in Y! directory but had good G rankings? Any noticeable increase in referrals from the new yahoo?
I had no Yahoo directory listing, and as far as I can see Yahoo referals are now up by 50-60%.
For me
70% Google referals
11% Yahoo referals
but my site is very European oriented.
Worldwide according to onestat.com
55.1 percent Google (light rise recently)
20.6 percent Yahoo (stable)
So Google nearly 80% if you include AOL and the other Partners?..
Last month: 47 Google Hits / 1 Yahoo hit
This month: 7 Google hits / 1 Yahoo hit
I have no Yahoo listing.
G.
Another site, #2 Yahoo (would have dropped to #12 anyway from a PR drop), now can't be found. $6000/month down to $500/month from secondary terms. Before the Google change, Google business was about $4000/month, that went awa
Another site, #1 Yahoo on two major terms, now #4 on primary, #2 on secondary. Was making $20k/month, now doing about $15k/month because the minor terms picked up on Yahoo.
We're hurting pretty badly... the real problem was that we got hurt in Google about 3 weeks before the Yahoo change.
Hit numbers are similar, but I don't want to dig through all those numbers.
