It looks to me like this is Yahoos new format..
A) To list Category Matches (Note this will not show hyperlinks or sites in the directory.. just a hyperlink to that category of yahoo

B) Show sponsored listings

C) Show google results

I hope this is not to stay... well not yet as I have not obtained by good rank in google yet. It looks like yahoo is no longer showing their directory listings in a search though.. I dont know if this is temporary or permanent.. but do a yahoo search and you will notice it takes the above format.

Helpmebe1,

Try another browser like Opera with it set to remove cookies at close and you will ALWAYS get the normal Yahoo serps.
As far as John Q Public, most of them don't have a clue about web sites and web pages in the Yahoo serps.
If you really want to show up high in the Yahoo results then you need $299.00 and a keyword filled domain name. At least untill they figure out that is what everyone is doing.
Try the analogX web site for "cookie wall". It's a tiny little app that will show you each any every cookie on your system. After you find all of the yahoo cookies and delete them you will get normal results.
Yahoo will have and keep their directory for many years to come. That's what made them what they are. They will add a few more tools to help you search, like web page results, if you use it often.

Conrad, as far as being # 1 on yahoo.. did all that you mentioned..haha..actually got the most slamingest title and description - the editor didnt touch a word.. i was so shocked and happy! Am just waiting for everything to kick in though as I just was listed this past week. I just worry that yahoo is changing like this - it would make sense financially for them to do something like this, ya know? And why do we have to do something like remove the cookies and use opera? I would suspect their testing something out? Also we know about this.. well gonna try the cookie remover and see if it works, but what about all the people that dont care if they remove their cookies - they will see what I currently see which is a hyperlink to the directory section followed by sponsored sites and google sites - do you think they care to go click on the directory to find us all in Yahoo? I would say no, they will just look at the yahoo sponsored sites and google sites, wouldnt you agree? Well I am going to go try opera in a second and hunt on the web for the cookie remover thing you mentioned and give that a try.. nothing I tried has worked so far...

I'm getting straight Google results - Well they look like Google results, but they're in a different order than if you do the same search in Google.
