Alt tages before Submitting to Yahoo?

Some are not in place, is this bad?

Hey all.. I am about to submit to yahoo, today if possible if not within the next 2 days.. The question I have is while most of my images do have the alt tag on them, I do have a company logo guy on the bottom of all product pages (ecommerce site) that does not have the alt tag.. would this prevent me from being accepted into yahoo directory when an editor reviews my site? Does anyone have good knowledge of this? Thanks!

Don't worry about it. A lack of ALT tags will make no difference to Y!. If your site has unique content, renders well in all browsers, and you are willing to shell out the dead presidents, you will be fine.

PS Will Alt tags make a difference to any of the other directories or SE's ... I would think if it was ok with Yahoo it is ok with everyone else.. Anyone have any different information?

I wouldn't let the lack of that alt text stop me, but you might want to run some pages through an HTML Validator [searchengineworld.com] just to make sure there are no major problems, just as an extra safeguard. An error would show for lack of alt text, but you can just ignore that for now.

You didn't ask, but you might also check for browser compatibility and make sure the site is usable if Javascript is disabled. It can't hurt to cover all bases.

Good luck with your site!

Marcia,
Thank you! Fortunely, or unfortunely, however you want to look at it, I had the joy of that.. redid 2k pages over three times basically between keywording it up to the max and then since its a yahoo store and I was adding my own HTML tags, I had to then go take them all out since the store adds it in automatically.. something I was not told.. ugh! Well just checked them int he auto checker and it says 16 errors or soemthing but just checked one of my competitors who has a top three spot and a yahoo store and he comes back with 30 errors..ouch! Hopefully I will be fine.. Thank you for mentioning those two services... Sorry for this long message.. but again.. just wanted to say thanks for pointing that out!
