Grandfathered local Yahoo directory listings

Will grandfathered listings have to pay in 2003?

This question is probably already answered here in the Yahoo forum but I spend all my time in the Google forum so I haven't seen it.

In the real estate agent category in a large local suburb, Yahoo directory has 88 listings. Most, I assume, have been grandfathered in because I can't imagine all 88 agents paying $299 for just 2002. The directory page, by the way, has a pagerank of 0.

I'm certainly not going to pay $299 if most of the others aren't paying anything for their 2002 listing, and their 2003 listing, and...

I guess my question is, Do you think the pre-December 28, 2001 listings will be grandfathered in through 2003 (and beyond?) or will they have to pay the $299 next year (2003)?

For me, paying $299 for a local listing in a category with 88 listings (and PR0) is not going to have the same impact as a $299 listing in a category where everyone is paying $299 and the number of listings is far fewer.

Any thoughts on the matter?

My impression is that they will be grandfathered in and not forced to pay, especially since they include that Dec. 2001 date in their terms of service, making it clear the fees are for sites included after that date.

Yes, only sites after the Dec. deadline will have to pay recurring fees.

I called Yahoo and confirmed this.

Thanks 2_much.

If those pre-December 28, 2001 listings pay no more fees forever then, as Meatloaf so elequently sang it, "I'm praying for the end of time."
