On the other hand, the secondary search "web pages" is currently running through Google - though that might change in about 7 days. No one is sure.
Anyway, you can't optimize for Yahoo. You can just make a site and hope you might maybe kinda get listed.

2_Much prepared an excellent check-list for listing with Yahoo. You might want to read through it for some good hints:

I know that Yahoo requires the company name be the title.
I happened to pick a domain name last night that matched my keywords that I am using. So, guess what the company name is going to be!
Also, I have read quite a bit about Yahoo in general, but wanted to get the experts' opinions.
Click through popularity is a factor in how a page is ranked. Can I just sit at home and click through to my site, empty the borwser cache and then just repeat....:)......or does Yahoo track ips for that same reason? Has anyone ever spent a 'redeyed' night doing this?

Clickthrough - personally, I don't think this is a factor any more. I could be wrong, but this is just my observation. I think clickthrough has been replaced by link popularity.
Netscape - some aren't, but I think it's possible some editors might still be using Netscape 4.0. I's suggest you make your site compatible just in case.
Good luck!
Quick question though.., what kind of observations have you seen that the clickthrough popularity has ceased and the linkto popularity has started?
Asking, as I would need to know(as this is a new site) before submitting. Should I build links to my site first before submitting to Yahoo?
Thanks
1) click popularity
2) random factor
I have seen sites that should not rank for #1 on a given term due to the high link popularity of their competitors. The only way they could have gotten the #1 spot was by clicks or Yahoo is randomly rotating results on some searches.
For the categories I monitor, click pop doesn't seem to be a factor. I worked the click pop and it didn't make a difference in ranking; what made a difference was link pop.
You just have to observe your category carefully and try to judge according to what you see.
What I've been doing now is building link pop first and THEN submitting to Yahoo. This ensures I don't waste any money :-)
Anyone have any comments?
1. keywords / phrases
Select keywords / phrases to build into title / description that have high frequency and will give you fewer than 30 competing Yahoo listed sites (much fewer if poss) and do not bring up any category listings on searches.
The yahoo results page is likely to be cleaner as a result and your site will be listed in the top whatever way Yahoo sort the results.
There can only be 10 in the top 10 :-)
2. Alphabetic category listings.
I know 2_Much you did mention this ..
Because users also browse categories directly, try to pick a high alpha title because category listings are in this order below high traffic and pay for prominance listings.
Any comments?
Caine, I would definitely participate in a 'yahoo click a thon' to help someone out.
They probably do measure by clicks unique to ip ranges (it only makes sense, but I was hoping it was in the form of a url session id or cookie), so guess I better get on the phone with the family and friends around the globe.
thanks everyone.
