Pay Yahoo in spite of Google?

Get banned from Google so buy a Yahoo... or not?

Think I got banned from Google after achieving a PR4 in only about 60 days (I think I got banned, can't tell for sure). I now have no PR.

So, if I throw 300 bux at Yahoo (I cleaned up the site), is there the chance that my domain is dead in the water and would just be wasting my money?

My downfall I believe was hidden text. It was relevent to content, just a blatant use of hidden text. One of my competitors may have "ratted me out". By lossing my PR, two of my competitors went from PR2 and PR4 to PR4 and PR6, respectively. We are in a niche market with reletively few of us out there.

Regardless, I just do not want to flush $300.00 if I'm going to have to rebuild anyway.

Your $300 will not restore your PR. There are plenty of Yahoo included sites with PR0 around.

If you are certain you have the cause pinned down you could email Google and beg. Or alternatively, write Google off for that domain and try with another.

There's a whole thread on it, but the bottom line is that it is very difficult to recover once you have been hit like that. I have re-populated whole sites and still no recovery in sight... I suspect a flag or something that just never gets reset.

The short answer... you could well be wasting your money if Google ranking is what you want from your $300

If it's the site in your profile you've got your PR4 back, I would work on building your links up as your site only shows one link pointing to you, also the site did seem to take a long time to open

Ya know,

I'm not certain what happened. I was running hidden text with a GIF background so as not to be detected. The dumb part was, you could see the text for a second or two while the page loaded. If a competitor wanted to turn me into the spam nazi's, I was a sitting duck. The text was content related but I didn't have the usual sprinkling of text at the top and bottom - I used the text to divide paragraphs, etc. No repeating text... I mean, if you saw it, it made sense. But if I were an editor and saw it... grey bar, baby!

Anywho... I'm a dead man. Google drove me over 500 hit per day within the last 30 days. I had 82 today. TOTAL. Two or three months of wondering is a luxury I can't afford. Would you suggest a paid Yahoo sub to re-invigerate traffic?

Just checked... I'm grey. No PR. I got rid of the JS today... what else causes slow loading?

Beg them - come clean, say you are sorry and won't do it again.

In the meantime try an adwords select campaign to lessen the blow.

not much else you can do.

:(

sorry bud it was showing a PR4 but now nothing, odd !

Had a quick look at the site your index page is 81k WOW on a slow connection your looking at a 23sec download! And your stoves graphic is 25k! also your using a font that I've never heard of 'lionel text genuine' which is forcing my system to search for it then display it as my default font. Don't know if this'll slow it down but it's not good

If it was me, Id look at a rebuild, new domain, forget the yahoo submission for now, then work on your links

Google adwords

If this is the wrong venue for this question, please forgive me. But from what I have read in the last 24 hours (here) anything over 15K is dangerous. How do I check my page size? I loaded my page font to my web server thinking it would display just as my images do..? Not so? My competition is at:

SORRY

Are their page sizes comparible or am I a lone idiot?

Steve,

from what I can see you're not doing anything wrong. "hidden text or the image "alt tags" isn't the problem and your pages are not cloaked which would really harm your site even if they were.

If you are somehow associated with thi site ***.shopinlosangeles.***
then you should investigate for your problem here.

I "suspect" they are causing your google problem

If you look at the google bar (when at your site) and see that the Page Rank indicator is gray your just not listed. This isn't "banned" just not listed.

This is good! The other company has a complete white indicator (no green) which means Page Rank 0 and in this instance probably mean they were banned "NOT YOU". Because of your current association your site will likely not get back into google.

NOTE: THIS IS ONE POSSIBILITY, I DID LOOK TOO EXTENSIVELY AT THIS SO PRECISE WITH CAUTION.

Note: don't jump without closely looking at what is below you. You will end up spending money needlessly and without returns.

Dumb Guy,

Either way is going to take time.

1. Getting reinstated with Google will take about 2 months
2. Building up a brand new domain in Google will also take about 2 months.

So if you're fairly confident you can have the penalty lifted from Google, I'd suggest you do that and submit that site to Yahoo.

However, you may want to consider starting fresh on a new domain and submitting that one to Yahoo.

Hope this helps.
