Finally Got into Yahoo! Directory

...and my website is totally in JavaScript!

A ways back I posted that I couldn't manage to get into the Yahoo! directory and the replies suggested that it was because my website was dependent on JavaScript.

Suddenly the last couple of days my visitor count went up, so I posted a note on my homepage asking how people found me. The answer, to my surprise, was through Yahoo!

After FOREVER my site suddenly appeared. FYI I last submitted it just over two months ago.

There is hope!

Some of the advice I got was to pay... that would work for sure.

But no, it was a free submission. My website is not-for-profit so I didn't want to fork up any money.

OT, but does anyone know if its "legit" to have more than one listing in the directory (i.e. home page and a subpage)?

Well done. I submitted my site (also not-for-profit ) to yahoo a few months back and nothing yet, although I do have a few good keywords showing up on googleyahoo, I wouldnt mind the extra traffic coming my way :)

Jimbo, I was also coming up with a Web Pages search which give the exact results of a Google search. Searching for "calories" I was number two.

Now just going to Yahoo! and searching (you get what they call a Web Sites search by default) I'm number nine.

I'm not sure but at the same time I submitted my homepage I submitted a "subpage" and it didn't make it (yet). The subject is even different, but the first part of the URL is the same.

Generally the answer is no... but, they do make exceptions for some sites.. Their BusEx TOS is very clear about their feelings

2.6 Please note that Yahoo! Express is only open to sites that DO NOT ALREADY EXIST in the Directory. Do not submit your site to Yahoo! Express program if your site already appears in the Directory. Thanks seth....my yahoo experience was pretty cool

i submitted a link, within 2 days it was up and listed in a 2nd tier category. Without asking, I seem to have 'acquired' another listing that links to deep within my site....and is the sole result returned as a "web site" match for its keywords :)

Can't beat the 'old yahoo for some free perks :)

Yeah, strange things do happen at Y! I requested my site be listed in an additional cat and they added two more, one of which they created just for my site, or so it seems since my site is the only one in the cat. So with my original regional listing, that makes four cats. And this was a free submission that grandfathered.

I have suggested my site 3 or 4 time per year and this is since 1996 (last century). Still waiting for Y!
