It's decision time. I need to employ some help in SEO field and need to make a choice of provider. Last developers to work on this particular site ended up with Flash in the middle of a Frames set with Meta Tags, Description etc embedded in the main frame.
Have submitted all over the place and have someresults worth talking about but need to submit to Yahoo Directory, Google Directory? DMOZ submitted several times to no avail, Looksmart done OK. Inktomi done OK. Overture done OK.

Having spoken to a few heads in SEO I am told I need to write nad submit HTML pages to Yahoo for any chance of success.

Am I being given straight talk or guff here and does anyone want to suggest the best guys around for this kind of work?

Sorry if this is a bit direct but as a user rather than a doer of SEO I need to get the right person first time.

Thanks in advance

JOHN

Hi John.

Nice looking site BTW

I presume you are looking at paying for a yahoo review, in that case just find the correct catergory for your website, make sure it all works fine, work on a killer description, but don't make it too long as the editor will only pull it apart.

Make sure you hold onto all the emails you get from yahoo as if you have problems with the listing you will need to reply to the editor direct.

I've seen quite a few pure flash sites get into Yahoo recently. I don't know if this was a policy change or just something they slipped by (they were paid listings).

Hi, John.

I'm afraid I got a Java runtime error with Opera, and then the index page took 1 minute 15 seconds to load on 56K dialup. The index page did not load at all in IE 5.0 - all I got was a blank page.

To be perfectly honest, I'd check into usability and compatibility issues before submitting to Yahoo, and when that's done also resubmit to ODP - I'd hazard a guess that this is what could possibly have been the problem there.

Thanks guys, just to top it all I looked in via Opera and Netscape only to discover the link to the order page isn't working! All this was supposedly checked out by the web developers last year! Any suggestions for a good Flash guy to do a few repairs?

Thanks for the push in the right direction, much appreciated
